![]() Schnaufer stationed at Saint-Trond airbase in the Kingdom of Belgica they're also joined by Erica's twin sister, the genius engineer Ursula Hartmann. Saint-Trond's Thunder is set half a month after the end of Strike Witches 2, with Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke, Gertrud Barkhorn, and Erica Hartmann, along with night witch Heidemarie W. Operation Victory Arrow primarily follows three groups of Strike Witches members across its three episodes. ![]() Most Strike Witches members were reassigned to fronts in or around their homelands, while Yoshika Miyafuji has entirely retired from service due to draining her magic reserves in order to destroy the hive over Venezia, and is now living a quiet, ordinary civilian life Mio Sakamoto remains in IFN service, though as she's aged out of her magic abilities Mio is no longer a witch. After this victory the 501st JFW was disbanded. In July of 1945, the 501st Joint Fighter Wing and allied naval fleet destroyed the Neuroi hive over Venezia, liberating the country (the climatic events of Strike Witches 2). I have a feeling something big is going to happen.Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow (2014-2015) I’m interested to see if Yoshika’s magic will come back sooner than expected and to see how the season closes out. The Neuroi have trapped General Patton and Yoshika within a dome and have blocked the other witches out. I really did think that the two girls would be out for the entire episode, but I suppose their personalities wouldn’t let them stay out of the final fight for Berlin. Both Yoshika and Shizuka seem to be doing fine given the circumstances. This episode did pretty well to address the concerns that were created in the previous episode. It really makes Yoshika stick out as the witch who can still aid in combat without using magic. I love how the show circled back around to this detail and is ending on one of the first things Yoshika did. I remember back in episode one of Road to Berlin, Sakamoto finds Yoshika studying medicine so that she can heal people without using her magic. Yoshika was granted this request from Sakamoto so the other witches had no idea about it. She was onboard General Patton’s super tank healing any injured soldiers. Speaking of Yoshika, she actually did a lot more than I expected her to. Doing too much could be bad news, but maybe I was just looking too deep into it. I got the impression that she was pushing herself a little too hard in order to make it up to Yoshika or something like that. Shizuka was able to hold her own during combat this time, though for me she seemed a little off. Luckily General Patton has brought a super tank that is able to destroy the Neuroi wall with one shot, and yes…this is the same General Patton you’re thinking of. The wall Neuroi are pretty formidable since they are essentially large shields that cannot be destroyed with the standard machine gun. Seeing the witches and the army fighting within the center of Berlin felt like an uphill battle as they tried to take out a new type of wall Neuroi. Yoshika isn’t someone who sits back while a fight is going on, so I was left wondering what she was going to do next. However, the assault on Berlin will go according to schedule and the request to delay to operation for Yoshika’s magic to return was denied. ![]() As for Yoshika, her magic should be replenished within a few days. ![]() Shizuka’s leg healed up pretty quickly, but she is a bit emotionally unstable since her failure has taken away Yoshika’s ability to participate in battle. It turns out that both girls came out of this a little better than I thought. Yoshika had exhausted all of her magic while Shizuka had an injury on her leg and heavy guilt on her conscience. One of the main questions I had going into this episode was how Yoshika and Shizuka were going to go back to being productive members of their team. I thought these two were going to be out of the fight so I was surprised to see them being able to contribute so soon. I was hooked on to the events that took place during the battle, but I was also interested to see what was going to happen to Yoshika and Shizuka. We are once again treated to some lengthy action sequences which fits well for the final confrontation. Sakamoto and Ursula are transporting weapons, the army is fully mobilized with everything they’ve got, and the witches are defending the skies. I can already feel that this is the beginning of the end. The final battle has finally begun and the fate of Berlin will soon be determined. ![]()
